Drabble of Summer #19: Itch
“Stop that.” Gently Desmond pulled the other man’s hand away, kissing his fingers for good measure.
“It itches,” Peter complained, knowing it sounded childish even as the words came out of his mouth. Des gave him a look that was so reminiscent of Dr. Saunders that Peter wondered if Topher uploaded some of the doctor’s personality into Des’s new program.
“That means it’s healing,” Des explained gently. “Leave it alone.” As a former nurse, Peter should’ve known that. But he’d gone so far from that time that he hardly thought about it. Besides, this wound lingered when it shouldn’t have. He ran his finger along it now, remembering in stark detail the butcher who gave it to him.
It wasn’t healing. Not really. But it itched like it wanted to heal, and that made it that much more frustrating.
