JustPrompt: A playful moment

Picture prompt

Carefully he pulled the last of the leaves into the growing pile. It probably would've been easier if he used an ability to sweep up the leaves-- it certainly would've made the work go faster-- but there was no substitution for manual labor. Besides, Peter didn't want to get into the habit of using his abilities for every aspect of his life.

"That's a very good leaf pile, darling," Gabriel commented. He moved up behind Peter, wrapping his arms around the empath and gently kissing the side of his neck. "It's just too bad we have to ruin it," Gabriel continued.

"Really?" Peter frowned at that idea. Of course, that was the whole goal of making the leaf pile in the first place but he still didn't like the idea of all his hard work being destroyed. "Do we really have to?" Peter complained. "I spent hours on this."

"That was your choice," Gabriel reminded him fondly. "I'll help you clean it back up." He gave another kiss on the shorter man's neck. Peter sighed, feeling his resolve melt away. Gabriel knew very well that his lover's neck was an especially weak spot.

And really, what was a few hours when they had all eternity together?

"Okay," Peter conceded. And he playfully shoved Gabriel into the pile. Gabriel quickly grabbed him by the wrist so the two of them were tumbling down into the leaves together.

Bright oranges and dull browns blended together in the mix. Peter stretched out, listening as his movements cruched the leaves underneath him. He closed his eyes, taking in a deep breath. The smell was crisp and invigorating. He heard the leaves shift beside him and suddenly his mouth was assaulted by kisses. Without a second thought he slid an arm around Gabriel's shoulder to return the kisses.

After a few moments, though, he pulled back and rolled them through the leaves. He grabbed a handful and tossed it at Gabriel. An amused spark lit up Gabriel's eyes as he quickly returned fire, and soon the two of them were showering each other in leaves.

"God, I love you," Peter grinned, laughing breathlessly. "I love you so much."

"I love you too, Peter," Gabriel answered. They exchanged a soft kiss and after pulling back Peter nuzzled against Gabriel's neck. The scent of the leaves clung to him, and Peter thought it was a nice addition to Gabriel's already wonderful smell. He pulled away again only to find Gabriel's lips. His fingers combed eagerly through the man's hair, but stopped midway.

"Is something wrong?" Gabriel asked.

"You have a leaf in your hair, darling," Peter told him, grinning as he plucked it out.

"So will you before I'm done," Gabriel smirked. Before Peter could say another word Gabriel tugged on him and the two were tumbling back down into the leaves.
