Picture Prompt
He held her gently in his arms, his fingers running up and down the length of her back. The sky was drenched in gold as the sun made its final descent over the horizon but Peter hardly noticed that. The beauty he saw in Rigby’s eyes rivaled any sunset.
Sometimes Peter still found it hard to believe that he actually had a girl like Rigby in his life. She was sweet, smart, kind, a fabulous cook, and so much fun to be around. Of course he was hopelessly in love with the girl but it was more than that. Peter could actually spend a day with her and find no need for romance. They could be together as friends and Peter didn’t realize how much he liked that until now.
While drifting in his thoughts Peter played with strands of Rigby’s hair. He did that a lot and Rigby was more than willing to let him do it. She was truly amazing; everything he could possibly want.
“The sunset’s beautiful,” he mentioned softly.
“It is,” she agreed, though she wasn’t paying it any more attention than Peter. He swallowed, feeling a sudden twinge of nervousness though there was no reason to feel it. He’d been with Rigby for months now.
“Tomorrow’s Valentine’s Day,” Peter continued. If it weren’t for Rigby he’d be spending the holiday alone. The thought wouldn’t have bothered him but he was still grateful for her. He bent his head and fit into the crook of her neck. “Our first Valentine’s Day,” he went on, and the way he said “first” made another nervous twinge go through him.
Rigby made a soft noise of agreement. Her fingers threaded up in his hair, keeping him in place. Peter shuddered a little and pressed closer to her. Night was coming on quickly now almost like the sun was trying to give them privacy.
“Be my valentine, Rigby,” Peter whispered into her skin.
“Only if you’ll be mine,” she answered, pulling away so she could kiss him. Definitely, Peter thought, kissing the girl’s lips with a gentle hunger. Every single day of my life.
