Drabble of Summer #7: Sunburn

Every single time Peter went out to hang out with his friends, he had to endure the same questions: how long will you be gone? Will there be adult supervision? Do you have enough money? Blah, blah, blah. He really wished his parents would treat him like an adult for once.
Miraculously, when he told his mother he was going to the beach, she didn’t ask any annoying questions. She simply reminded him of his curfew. Weird. Later he tried sneaking in, wincing at each step.
“Forgot the sunscreen, didn’t you?” his mother asked wryly. Peter continued mutely up the stairs. Never would he admit that her annoying questions were for his own good.
