Nothing in this world was real. Peter told himself that over and over. Palm trees? Not real. The sun rising and setting at the same time? Not real. The water he was drinking? Well… It was a little harder to believe it wasn’t real when he felt it touch his lips and roll down his throat.
And once Peter started questioning that, he questioned other things too. The sledgehammer had definite weight as he swung it, and it made his arms ache from prolonged use. The warmth from the sun made him sweat.
Was this real or not? The longer Peter stayed, the less sure he was about it.
