Echo huddled close to her handler. Of course they were no longer in the Dollhouse so such labels didn’t exist, but it was difficult to think of Paul as anything else. They both looked the worse for wear; Echo was so tired that when it was Peter’s turn to take shift she curled up right there on the ground.
If they were lucky the rebels would find an abandoned house with beds to sleep in, but most of the time they had to settle for alleys or under bridges. It wasn’t an easy life but at least they were free. After spending four years under the control of the Dollhouse, Peter would take that freedom over all the comforts in the world.
