A persistent, irritating beeping noise burst its way into his dreams. Letting out a groan he fumbled around until his fingers brushed against the alarm clock. He continued fumbling around until he hit the right button and the beeping stopped. He let out a relieved sigh, the lack of sound lulling him back to sleep.
Usually Peter was awake and ready for his day by seven o'clock in the morning, if not earlier because of his work schedule. Even on his days off Peter always woke early. But for some reason when Sunday rolled around he couldn't be coaxed out of bed before noon. It was like his body was catching up on the rest he hadn't allowed it all week.
He didn't even move when he felt the person at his side get up for the day. Funny, but it was usually the other way around: Peter was the one wanting to wake early while his partner grumbled and fought to catch more sleep. Sunday had a strange affect on both of them.
"Darling?" He felt a hand on his shoulder. "Peter, it's time to go to church. Are you coming?"
Peter let out a muffled groan into his pillow. He had such a long week and he was so tired. The snooze button had such an appealing pull to it. Five more minutes, it promised. Just five more minutes and then he would wake up.
Five minutes became ten. Then twenty, half an hour, an hour... On and on until Peter slipped off to sleep. He heard the alarm clock go off with its irritating noise again. Peter waved his hand blindly and the alarm clock flew across the room.
Peter didn't notice what happened. All he cared about was that the noise stopped and he could get some sleep again.
