Muses Sex Etc: Need

Peter stared blankly up at the ceiling. The house was quiet except for the air conditioner humming softly. He turned and saw that it was one o’clock in the morning. His eyes turned in the other direction, out into the hallway that separated him from Gabriel’s room. Peter wanted to respect the man’s space but the longer he stared at that hallway the more he started to ache for Gabriel’s company. Sighing, he gave up any hope for sleep and pushed the sheets off his body.
Quietly he padded down the hallway and poked his head into Gabriel’s room. He could see the man curled up on his side. Peter moved closer just to make sure the other was sleeping peacefully. It certainly looked that way and Peter smiled, carefully running his fingers through the man’s hair.
“Hmmm.” Gabriel let out a sigh, his head bumping lightly against Peter’s fingers. Then his eyes fluttered open and settled on Peter’s face. “Peter?” Gabriel spoke the name with a questioning frown.
“I… sorry to wake you,” Peter said as he meekly pulled his hand away. “I just…” He paused as he tried to come up with a good reason for being here. I needed you, his thoughts echoed. And of course Gabriel heard that.
“There’s room for you.” He scooted over, and after a moment of hesitation Peter climbed up in bed next to the other man. He bent his head down and pressed a soft kiss on the other man’s lips. He felt Gabriel’s arm wind around his neck, pulling him down. Peter followed it until his body was pressed up against his lover.
“Gabriel…” He swallowed, the closeness momentarily taking his breath away. “I missed you,” he whispered faintly.
“I missed you too,” Gabriel responded. Peter heard his thoughts say, I needed you too. Peter shivered a little; he loved to be needed. He could almost feel it in Gabriel’s body, and wondered if his partner could feel Peter’s need for him.
Whether it was slow and delicate or fast and desperate, coming together was always fueled with the same desire. This time Peter wanted things to be slow, so he could familiarize himself again with Gabriel’s body. Being apart from his lover for any stretch of time was agony and Peter used this time almost as an apology for being gone.
Peter… He smiled, trying to listen to Gabriel’s jumbled thoughts as his fingers moved over the man’s clothed skin and began to peel off the material keeping their bodies apart. Peter… don’t tease. Need you.
I know, Peter answered, allowing his thoughts to connect with Gabriel. He nuzzled Gabriel’s neck, pressing light kisses there. Been so long.
I’m right here, Gabriel responded, his fingers digging hard into Peter’s shoulders.
He couldn’t deny either of them for much longer. Peter shifted in, muffling his gasp against Gabriel’s neck. Something about this remained so fresh to him though this certainly was far from the first time the two of them made love. Perhaps because his own desire for Gabriel was still strong enough to overwhelm him.
It wasn’t necessarily the sex itself that Peter needed, although feeling their bodies connect was wonderful. It was everything in between: all of the caresses, the kisses, the labored breaths, the whispered words, the thoughts that passed between them guiding each other. Most of all it was what would happen when it was all over and their lust for each other had been spent. Peter and Gabriel would rest in each other’s arms, and Peter would hold the other man close as he felt Gabriel’s steady breathing brush against his skin.
At the end of the day, this was what Peter really needed: for Gabriel to simply be close to him.
