“Ladies and gentlemen, the bride and groom will now share their first dance.”
A silence fell over the guests. The dance floor was cleared as the couple made their way to the center. The lights were dimmed with a single spotlight on the two. For a few moments the world disappeared and it was just the husband and his wife.
Of course, the entire day was technically theirs. From the moment they woke up each moment was devoted to them-- both as individuals and as a pair coming together. Watching her walk down the aisle was an amazing moment for Peter. His breath was stolen away seeing her in her wedding gown for the first time. He still couldn’t keep his eyes off her.
Now they finally had this moment. They were declared man and wife, and now they had this first moment as a couple. The music kicked in and they swayed in time. Their fingers twined together, their new rings glimmering in the spotlight. Peter never imagined being so happy as he did in this moment.
The lights eventually came up so all the other couples could dance. But for Peter, there was still just him and his beautiful bride.
