No one would ever guess that a simple band of gold would change things. But it was way more than just a piece of jewelry. He belonged to someone now; Peter never thought something like this would happen to him. In the first few days Peter found himself touching the ring just to make sure it was really there.
He couldn’t even stop the smile on his face as he ate lunch in the break room. And since it used to be so rare for him to smile, that was a big deal.
“That looks good.” Peter glanced up to see a fellow paramedic slide in with his lunch.
“My wife made it for me,” Peter said, trying out the word seeing how it sounded out loud. It made his heart race just a little faster.
“Ah, so the famous Rigby is finally Mrs. Petrelli. Congratulations.”
“Thanks.” Peter grinned-- actually grinned. He saw Hesam and greeted his partner with a wave. “Be with you in a second. I’m going to call Rigby before our shift starts.”
Hearing Rigby’s voice always made the rest of Peter’s work day go much better. It was a different feeling than when they were dating or even engaged. Rigby promised she’d be waiting for him when he got home, which gave Peter something to look forward to.
Best of all, the two of them had an entire lifetime together. He hoped that he would only fall deeper in love with his beautiful bride.
