He carefully held the girl in his arms, wanting to keep her close for as long as he could. She was so small, so fragile. But it wouldn’t take long for her to grow into a beautiful woman. She put her arms around his neck and he felt a lump form in his throat.
“Don’t worry, sweetheart,” he whispered to her. “Daddy’s got you.”
He never thought he would have this again. He was building a family, and this time he wasn’t going to lose it.
“I love you, little girl. I love you so much.”
