When he entered he saw that the room was bathed in dim light. He hesitated only a moment before going farther inside. He tried to move through the room quietly so he wouldn’t disturb the other man he knew was here. It was quiet, and he was grateful for that.
“Peter?” He froze at the voice. Desmond’s familiar shape appeared in the doorway to the bedroom. “Peter!” Before he could react Desmond was crossing the distance between them and throwing his arms around the other man.
It felt so good to be in Des’s arms again that for a moment the world seemed to narrow down around them.
“I didn’t think I’d see you again,” Des murmured as he pressed his face into Peter’s chest. “You’ve been gone a long time.”
“I know.” Peter closed his eyes, nuzzling up against his lover’s cheek. He felt the other man shudder a little at his touch. Des pulled back just enough to press a soft kiss against his lover’s mouth.
“C’mon.” Des tugged him forward. “You look tired.” Peter obediently followed the other man into the bedroom.
The bed looked appealing and Peter would’ve collapsed onto it clothes and all if Desmond didn’t have such a firm grip on him. Des took Peter’s jacket off, then gently pulled his shirt over his head. Peter almost stopped him but there was a determined look in Desmond’s eyes. With the shirt gone Des went for Peter’s belt next, and then his pants.
“You too,” Peter insisted, his fingers moving to lift off Des’s shirt as well.
“Better,” Des sighed, briefly kissing Peter’s mouth before brushing his lips against the man’s scar. Des was the only one who could do that, and even then Peter couldn’t help wanting to pull away.
But he didn’t. He kept close, and pulled Desmond down into bed with him. He was too tired for anything but sleep tonight, but it would be a better sleep because he was back with Desmond.
