Drabble of Summer #33: Swim

His arms cut through the water in rhythmic strokes. With each movement he pulled his body forward. The water felt warm against his skin. Finally he made it to the edge of the pool. His fingers gripped the edge and he took a moment to catch his breath.
Twenty-eight laps so far. That was good, but it wasn’t his best. Kilo knew it was important to be his best. He could keep going. So he took a deep breath and turned around. Twenty-nine laps. Thirty.
Was thirty his best? Kilo still felt like he could do more. He swam until his limbs burned, until he could barely move.
