Drabble of Summer #45: Sunrise

He could sense it approaching. It started as a prickle to the back of his neck that spread in warning the closer it drew. The others could feel it too and were moving restlessly in their search for a safe place. Peter didn’t know what he should do but thankfully Raul was there to guide him.
The older vampire pulled him back toward the darkness. There they stood together watching the sun peek out over the horizon. Peter had seen thousands of sunrises before yet this one looked more beautiful and dangerous than all the rest.
“No, Peter,” Raul said sternly, gripping the empath’s wrist tightly. “You can never go back into the light.”
