"Tempt not a desperate man."-William Shakespeare
Thirty seconds.
That was how much time separated three individuals from death. Thirty seconds.
Unacceptable. He was stronger now, but Peter could see that strength wasn't enough. It was time that made the difference. If he'd been thirty seconds slower that mother and her twin daughters would have died. Three lives lost in thirty seconds.
Peter needed to be faster so he could give those lives every second they needed. But where could he find the speed?
Noah Bennet mentioned someone who came after Danko. Someone with an ability; someone fast. Unknowingly, he spoke the very words Pete needed to hear.
One touch and Peter could have the promised speed. No longer would people have to suffer through pain while waiting for a paramedic. Peter could outrun the fastest ambulance. Hell, there wouldn't even be any need for an ambulance. Peter could do all the work himself: rush to the scene, find the patient, then take them back to the hospital for treatment.
Thinking about it made him eager to follow Noah wherever they needed to go. Whatever it took to get that ability. Peter wanted it; he needed it.
Thirty seconds was too long. He would never let it happen again.
