"Adam!!" Peter ran across the grass eagerly. He made it to their house's front door and wrenched it open, hurrying inside. "Adam!" he called again. The immortal appeared from the kitchen, his eyebrows going up when he saw Peter standing there.

"Is everything all right, love?"

"Tessa's in labor!" Peter blurted out excitedly. Adam's eyes went wide and he quickly abandoned the kitchen to follow Peter outside.

The two men waited for this day for a long time. Adam wasn't going to miss this moment after months of waiting. Peter and Adam guided Tessa through every step of her pregnancy. They provided her food and care, and made sure she stayed healthy. Now at last the day arrived.

When they arrived Tessa was already in the midst of her labor. Peter stood at her head running his hand soothingly over her neck and trying to make her feel comfortable. Adam grabbed some blankets and ran hot water. They both guided her along as best they could. Breathless hours passed and finally a head started to emerge.

"Peter, come look. It's coming." Peter hurried around to watch as the head became shoulders, then a body. He spread the blankets out so the young form would have a clean place to rest.

"Wow," Peter awed. "It's so beautiful."

"He," Adam corrected him, gently cleaning the newborn's body with the warm water.

"He," Peter repeated. He felt his heart swell up and he ran his fingers delicately over the newborn's nose. It stirred and nudged against his touch. Peter lit up in delight. "Did you see that?" he asked Adam. "He already knows me."

"Yes," the immortal agreed distractedly. He watched his lover with a thoughtful frown on his lips.

"Welcome to the world, Parker," Peter murmured lovingly. "That's okay, isn't it?" he added, turning to Adam. "Calling him Parker?"

"You can call him whatever you like," Adam answered. "He's yours, after all."

"No, no." Peter shook his head. "He's ours, Adam."

"That's what you really want, isn't it?" Adam sighed out. "I can see it in your eyes: you want a child, and you want it to be ours. Why didn't you ever tell me?" Peter moved away without a word, focusing his attention on Tessa. But the truth was Adam was right, and they both knew it. "Peter...."

"I think we should focus on Tessa and her colt," Peter said flatly. Adam opened his mouth to protest but closed it again. He reached out and stroked the newborn colt's nose. It nudged his hand and Adam couldn't help but smile a little.
