Mad: A bit of normalcy

It was strange to start going on dates with someone you’ve lived with for months. But now that life had calmed down somewhat Peter wanted to try for a bit of normalcy. And what was more normal than going on a date with a girl you liked?
“Enough surprises, Peter,” Elle scolded him. “You practically abduct me from my house--”
“Our house,” Peter corrected her. “We live there together, Elle.” She raised an eyebrow at him but didn’t say anything. “I’m taking you out on a date,” Peter reminded her gently. “What’s so bad about that?”
“You’re taking me out on a date in Paris,” Elle argued wryly.
“That’s even better, right?” He smiled, hoping she would smile back. Her look wasn’t encouraging him. Peter thought that she’d be happy. Paris was the most romantic city in the world.
“Peter, it’s…”
“It’s too much,” he finished for her. “It’s way overboard.”
“It is,” Elle agreed, frowning at him. “And don’t read my mind.”
“Maybe I just know you that well,” Peter said with a smile. Elle was still frowning at him, but he pulled her in his arms and started kissing her neck. She sighed, snuggling up close.
“You better be glad I love you,” she murmured.
“I am,” Peter assured her. “Every day.”
