It was almost peaceful here. As if the rest of the world was forgotten. Maybe that’s why the called it Safe Haven, even if the name made Echo snort a little. Personally Peter liked it because that’s exactly what this place was for him: a safe haven.
He stepped outside and took a grateful breath of fresh air. No butchers to dodge, no dead-heads to watch out for… He paused, seeing a familiar figure kneeling in the garden.
“Hey, Adelle,” he greeted her. “Mind if I join you?”
“By all means,” she nodded. Peter got some gloves and knelt down next to her. She was growing various fruits and vegetables, and it looked like they were all doing well under her care.
“It’s nice to see things growing,” Peter mentioned. “You have a gentle touch, Adelle.”
“So do you, Peter.” She hid a smile, focusing on pruning her plants. Peter didn’t miss any of the implication but he didn’t respond to it.
This place was his haven, but he didn’t belong here. Not really.
